Candidate Filing Information
City Council Opening
The following three positions will be on the November 2026 ballot for the City of Lake Crystal:
Council Member: four-year term of office
Council Member: four-year term of office
Mayor: two-year term of office
Qualifications
To qualify for elective office, a candidate must:
- Be qualified to vote
- Be at least twenty-one (21) years of age on the date he or she would assume office
- Be a resident of the city or will become a resident therein at least thirty (30) days before the election
- Have no other affidavit on file for any other elected office
- Pay a $5.00 filing fee
- File an Affidavit of Candidacy form
If elected, candidates must further qualify for office by taking and filing an oath of office.
Filing Period & Location
Filing Period: Filing Begins Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 8 AM at City Hall. The last day of submissions of Affidavits of Candidacy is Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 5 PM at City Hall.

Affidavit of Candidacy forms may be obtained by calling or stopping at City Hall.
